【Glamorous and Comedic, Devil Wears Prada is Very】
I picked up The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger the other day and read through it within the weekend.
If you liked The Nanny Diaries, you will love The Devil Wears Prada.
The plot revolves around Andrea Sachs, who graduates from Brown and gets a job that "a million girls would die for."
She is the personal assistant to Miranda Priestly, the editor in chief of Runway Magazine.
Ironically, Andrea doesn't even want the job- she has only accepted it because she thinks it will help her land her personal dream job: working as a writer for the New Yorker.
She must order breakfast multiple times so that Miranda can have a piping hot meal as soon as she arrives in the office.
Miranda issues vague requests and then proceeds to berate Andrea for being incompetent when she asks for clarification.
Miranda makes Andrea beg Scholastic for two advance copies of the latest Harry Potter book and then have them (the books) flown to Paris via private jet (just the books) so her twin daughters can have the book a day earlier than their friends.
I could go on and on with minutiae, but I don't want to ruin any surprises.
This was a gr8 read.
I started late one night and I could not put it down...there were some slow spots, but very few.
I wouldn't suggest starting at night though...I stayed up all night reading it.!!!!
If you're looking for deep character analysis or a book that will cause you to ponder the troubles o' the world this is not the book for you.
As the novel wears on, the predictability that you think certain things are going to happen is seriously questioned and although the novel ends like you think its going to for the most part, there are a few moments where you just might not know.
All in all, Im impressed with "The Devil Wears Prada" as it is Weisberger’s first novel.
She created a young, hip and entertaining read that can appeal to a variety of readers across the board.
