【Damien Should Have Worn Protection.】
The Omen IV tells the story of a politician and his wife who are unable to have a child.
They decide to adopt.
Little do they know, Delia, the baby girl they adopt is the spawn of Damien!!
Bad things begin to happen as Delia gets older.
Sure, the story sounds interesting.
And, for the most part, it is.
But this movie falls short!!!
Part of the problem is the acting.
Some times the acting is believable, and then in the next scene it is laughable!
These actors go back and forth between bad and B-movie good!
Now that's what I call range!!
In one scene Delia is running towards a street where we see a semi truck coming in the distance. (Yes, this feels alot like the scene in Pet Cemetary!) Just before the truck runs There are plenty of scenes like this throughout the movie!
Some of the scenes feel like they've been seen before.
I've already mentioned the baby/truck scene. There's also a scene which depicts a man being decapitated that feels alot like a scene from one of the previous Omen movies!***
I feel that the series should have died with Damien!
In my opinion, this movie is not scary, creepy, spooky, or even entertaining!
But, I can see how some people may like it.
So, if you scare easily, you may enjoy this movie.
If you like true horror, avoid this one!
The end of the world, the coming of the Anti-Christ, etc., has been the topic of several horror movies, most of them really wretched.
I suggest (and I want someone to pay me for this idea) that instead of trying to mine the New Testament any further, shift to Jewish mythology about the end of the world; Medieval Jewish writing postulated two (I said 2) messiahs and at least one Darth Vader villian named Armelius, and someone could certainly cobble together a movie out of that.
But, please, no more Damien (and, really, is it fair to use the name of a saint - a real saint who devoted his life to caring for the seriously ill - for the world's ultimate bad guy?)...
